Celebrating the 50th year
of fiber optics

Our challenge was to paint a picture of Corning Optical Communications as the pioneering company and birth of Fiber Optics communications - enabling the world’s network, tackling every challenge, and accelerating discoveries to open the world to
unlimited possibilities.

In 1970, Corning’s scientists invented low-loss fiber optics—a world-changing invention that lead to many others. Thank you, 1970 shows milestones thanking the year (and ultimately Corning) that allowed for their birth. From the first fiber-optic networked town, to the connection of the US to Europe, to the future—we utilized each milestone to positioned Corning as the driving future of Optical Communications.

✴︎ The solution

Using a vehicle of brightly lit photography and illustration, we created a design approach that conveys a light tonality and embraces pop-culture iconography.

To further enforce Corning’s brand, we utilized their Corning Square in a modular approach. We wanted to portray all the printed communication pieces as modular squares that can be sorted and put together in ways that suit certain audiences and situations.

Every piece embodies a different spirit or personality, much like people. In addition, when the posters are displayed in groups, they give off a sense of vibrancy and fun while also being informative.
