Standing strong with Mia Hamm
Incyte and Real Chemistry collaborated to launch Your Fans Are With You, an impactful awareness program aimed at supporting individuals living with graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Featuring soccer legend Mia Hamm, the campaign was built on a powerful message: no one has to face GVHD alone. Friends, family, and loved ones are always there to cheer you on, offering strength and solidarity during the toughest times.
Learning about GVHD and watching for symptoms often falls by the wayside for patients and caregivers. When the condition is not addressed and symptoms are unknown or not well explained, people developing GVHD do not know what to look out for and risk the chance of missing a developing problem that needs to be addressed. Increasing awareness and education is vital to supporting the GVHD community, at all stages of one’s transplant journey.

The digital strategy
Problem we’re solving
Since some GVHD patients were not properly prepared to deal with developing GVHD after their BMT, they a) may not be monitoring their symptoms closely and b) are unsure what to look for. This is delaying care, which can be problematic as better health outcomes are seen when GVHD symptoms are caught and addressed early on.
Role of the landing page
In partnership with Mia Hamm, create an awareness program to raise national attention about GVHD symptoms and empower GVHD patients to take urgent action with new or any changing symptoms.
Think
GVHD is a condition that needs constant monitoring – I must stay vigilant to and vocal about any change in symptoms, so it doesn’t take hold and progress.
Feel
Confident they know what they are looking for and empowered to start a conversation with healthcare team at the first sign of new or changing symptoms.
Do
Engage with resources on the campaign page at GVHDNow.com. Reach out to their healthcare team with any change of symptom.
A website that connects and empowers
Central to the campaign was the development of a robust and engaging website, designed as a supportive digital hub for the GVHD community. The site prominently showcased inspiring imagery and heartfelt video content featuring Mia Hamm alongside real people living with GVHD. By blending a well-known advocate with authentic patient stories, the website struck an emotional chord, fostering a sense of connection and encouragement.
Beyond storytelling, the site provided practical resources tailored for individuals with GVHD and their caregivers. These tools offered guidance on navigating the condition, empowering visitors with knowledge and actionable insights to improve their daily lives.
